About TP3 Apps:
TP3 is a department at the Institute of Theoretical Physics at the University of Würzburg, Germany. Our research topics focus on AdS/CFT correspondence, holography, black holes, and non-equilibrium statistical mechanics. But we are also interested in other interdisciplinary fields. In particular we work on problems connecting Physics and Music.
These activities started in 2013 with the idea that we can use entropy, an important quantity in statistical physics and thermodynamics, to tune a piano. To prove that this indeed works, we created an App called Entropy-Piano-Tuner. Meanwhile this app has more than 10.000 users worldwide. Since then we have initiated several other software projects:
- Just Intonation is an academic toolbox for adaptive real-time tuning
- Choral Pitch Monitor is a tool which allows a choir to monitor its average pitch drift.
All our projects are non-profit, free of charge, and open-source. We invite everyone, in particular the interested students at our faculty, to contribute.
